There’s always something new to discover at Richfield Heritage Preserve. From hiking the trails to fishing in the lakes to helping us preserve and protect the land, we welcome you to visit us from dawn to dusk any day of the year.

FISHING Shore fishing is permitted in Lake Linnea, also known as the Upper Lake. A boat house and dock sit just above the dam spillway.
All fishing is catch and release. At this time, the Lower Lake is not stocked due to the recent dam repairs. Fishing Policy.

HIKING Richfield Heritage Preserve offers 336-acres of wooded trails for everyone from the weekend walker to challenging hills and valleys for the advanced hiker. Park map.

ORIENTEERING A short course (one mile) and a long course (2.75 miles) were installed in 2020 by Eagle Scout Alex Klaben. Park guests can participate in this self guided course year round at their convenience.

BOATING Non-motorized watercrafts such as kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards are all welcome on the Upper Lake at Richfield Heritage Preserve during normal park hours from April 1 through November 1. The Upper Lake covers 8.3 acres and has three small islands. Please use caution with respect to shallow areas compounded by storm runoff.
REMEMBER! Personal flotation devices are mandated and REQUIRED to be on our Upper Lake. Vehicles must stay on defined roads and parking areas even when loading and unloading watercraft. All watercrafts must be placed by hand when entering and exiting the lake from the boat-launching areas. Life jackets must be worn at all times. Swimming from the watercraft, and alcohol, are strictly prohibited. When using the lake, State boating and fishing regulations apply. All watercraft must be licensed by the State of Ohio. HORSE BARN AND RIDING TRAILS The horse barn is located at 4225 Oviatt Road in Richfield. This entrance provides ample parking for horse trailers. Enjoy over five miles of bridle trails open to the public from June through December.

BUCKEYE TRAIL For nearly 1,444 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state and right through Richfield Heritage Preserve. The Buckeye Trail Association is a large, strong body of volunteers who maintain and promote the trail.
You can access the Buckeye Trail directly by parking at the Oviatt Road gate.
